Mae (AveryMae Amore) was in college when her dad-like figure of her life was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer on Halloween. It was her wish to see him one last time before he passed. She drove three hours home from college then sixteen hours out to Texas with her Mom and Dog, Banditt. Arriving in the early daylight hours to a Great-Uncle who had stayed up all night to make sure they made it safe. Within less then twenty-four hours, on December 13, 2012 (12-13-12), he passed away in the wee hours of the morning with them all holding hands around his bedside, even with his little dog by his side. This started Mae's fire to fight for the unsung heroes who battle this awful disease daily. She has met many on this road as well more family who she fights for too! She is also the Honor Lap Coordinator for RFL and the Blogger Manager for OSC for Strides.
